Ratliff Releases Education Platform

Posted about 2 years ago

Thomas Ratliff, Republican candidate for the Texas State Board of Education, today released his platform of guiding principles for his campaign and his service on the State Board of Education should he be elected in the March primary election.

Ratliff said, "When I announced my candidacy I stressed the need for the State Board of Education to work more closely with the men and women who have dedicated their lives to educating the children in our local schools. This platform is the result of that. To be clear, this document isn't full of my own ideas. It represents things I have learned from parents, school board members and educators around the district. As I have said from the start, I am not running because I think I have all the answers. I am running because the people that do have the answers don't have a voice at the SBOE from District 9."

Randy Hancock, superintendent of Royse City ISD, added, "Elected officials have gotten distracted with personal agendas and political games in the name of accountability.  It is time for some common sense conversations to protect and assure excellence in public education."

Mark Levesque, superintendent of Chapel Hill ISD, where Stacy and Thomas Ratliff's children attend school, said, "This is exactly the type of platform and core beliefs superintendents are looking for."

Ratliff concluded, "My hope is this document will provide some insight to the voters about what I believe and what I hope to work on if they vote for me in the March 2nd Republican Primary. "
